Welcome to my personal site! Glad you decided to stop by.
I’m Alex Hamilton—a writer, photographer, digital marketing junkie & self-professed nerd. Born and raised in Canada, I currently reside in the city of Guelph, where I work for a unique & amazing marketing company called Intrigue Media.
As a millennial, I’m all about the side hustle. I built this website to showcase my skills, personal brand, and freelance offerings. Everything you see here was created by me (unless otherwise credited). Keep reading to learn more.
What I love about writing is the challenge. I’ve been a writer for about as long as I can remember—starting my first novel at age 12 and beginning a new one every few years afterwards. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in creative writing, journalism, academic writing, and blogging, before finally turning my focus to marketing.
I back up all my writing with strong research and editing skills. I hold a Honors B.A. from McGill University (’12) and a bilingual International Baccalaureate diploma. I am fluent in both English and French, and comfortable writing in both languages.
Moving overseas with my family in 2004 instilled a serious love of travel in me. Since then, I’ve visited over 25 countries, 6 continents, and spent 1 year living solo in Japan. Through these experiences, I’ve forged connections with dozen of cultures around the world—and reached a better understanding of our new, globalized society.
There is more travel in my future. By the end of my life, I’d like to spend time living on every single continent—except for Antartica. I’m a Canadian, I understand what snow feels like… I’ll take a pass on that one.
“As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas and land on barbarous coasts.”
I’ve always had a passion for the new, the unexplored, the to-be discovered. My favourite way to unwind is by being active—sailing in the summer, skiing in the winter, and rock climbing whenever I can!
Sailing is my first love. Over the years, I’ve spent 6 seasons coaching across Ontario for different organizations. In 2014, I decided to fulfill a lifelong goal and become a professionally-licensed skipper, earning my RYA Yachtmaster Coastal accreditation. That year, I logged over 1000 nautical miles training and working for The Yacht Week in Croatia and Sicily.
These days, you can find me bouldering in the Guelph Grotto most weeknights—or training on my fingerboard at home.
